A Letter to the Desolate

When all light goes out, when all love seems to fade away, when all hope departs, we find our eyes fixed to heaven. It’s perhaps the only thing left for us in this Valley of Tears. And you may ask yourself, “Does He really care? How much does He love me? Will He take care of me?” And my answer to this is, YES!

The whole reason you’re here is that God wanted to bring you into existence for all eternity to reflect His infinite goodness! And even when we turned our backs on Him, He was calling us back. He desired our love so much that He sent His Son to die the most horrible death for us so that we may be set free of this world and enter the next! And not only did His Son die, but His Son died without consolations, without friends, in complete darkness. And so we find ourselves in darkness, waiting for a friend, a light, a reason to live. But we are not alone. Our Lord wanted us to see Him isolated in the Passion to tell us that we are not alone! If your friends leave you, like the apostles left Him, He’ll still be there. If your family is broken apart, He’ll still be there, giving you His own mother in case you find yourself in need of one. If all worldly happiness is completely gone, He’ll still be there waiting to show you the happiness in the next life. If the world hates you, it’s God way of saying that you’re not meant for this life!

People may say you’re not worth it, He says you’re worth dying for. People may say you’re not good enough, He says He will fill you with goodness so that you are far more better than the world could ever dream of! People may say you’re not smart, you’re not pretty, you’re not capable, you’re never going to make it… if only they knew how wrong they were. God loves you. He loves you more than your mind could comprehend. He doesn’t want you to suffer, and if you are, He’s only allowing it so He can bring out a greater good. And yet He doesn’t just choose anyone to confide His heart to, He chooses those who are disliked in this world, who have been rejected, because He too was rejected. He chose to be in your shoes once so He could feel your pain and merit the strength you need. He was hated, He was mocked, and He thought of you when He said, “I thirst!” He thirsts for your love!
But where is He? How can I find the Truth when He seems so far away? Well, we ask! We seek! We knock! Our Lord will show you the Truth, but you must ask Him incessantly until He does. He needs to see that we need Him and aren’t just indifferently asking. Also ask His Mother to ask Him to help you. Our Lord will never refuse anything asked from his Mother! Have hope! This is the beginning of a journey, a new way of life for you! The path which Our Lord will show you will set you free from the cares of the world, from your worrying, from all that troubles you. And the key to this hidden door is prayer. Even if you just say once a day, “Dear Mary, please ask thy Son to show me the Truth as it really is, to help me in my life, to set me free by His grace!” is infinitely important! If you seek the hand of God long enough, He will not only grab yours but embrace you! He doesn’t care about the silly things this world cares about. He cares only for your happiness, your holiness, and your entering into the kingdom of heaven. So trust in Him, no one in the history of the world has EVER been let down, why would you be an exception? And if any good came out of this article for you, it was because He wanted to tell you these things. In fact, Our Blessed Lord gave us a prayer and promised that anyone who said it faithfully would obtain conversion. It can also be said that a soul that says this will obtain second conversion, or a finding of the Truth.

“Eternal Father, I offer You the Wounds of Our Lord Jesus Christ to heal the wounds of our souls.”

Also, Our Lady promised that anyone who reminds her of the joy she felt when she said, “Behold the handmaiden of the Lord!” will be consoled by her. Let us use these prayers and go on our journey to our heavenly home.

May God then bless you with His grace, protect you with His tenderness, and heal you with His love! And may Our Lady hide you under her mantle so that you may be set free from this Valley of Tears!

The Most Holy Rosary - The Hail Mary

Taken from the book, "Secret of the Rosary," by St. Louis de Montfort, these quotes will instruct and inspire souls to say the Hail Mary and the Most Holy Rosary:

"EVEN THOUGH THERE IS nothing so great as the majesty of God and nothing so low as man insofar as he is a sinner, Almighty God does not despise our poor prayers. On the contrary, He is pleased when we sing His praises."

"Saint Gabriel's greeting to Our Lady is one of the most beautiful hymns which we can possibly sing to the glory of the Most High. "I will sing a new song to you."  This new hymn which David foretold was to be sung at the coming of the Messias is none other than the Angelic Salutation."

"There is an old hymn and a new hymn: the first is that which the Jews sang out of gratitude to God for creating them and maintaining them in existence----for delivering them from captivity and leading them safely through the Red Sea----for giving them manna to eat and for all His other blessings."

"The new hymn is that which Christians sing in thanksgiving for the graces of the Incarnation and the Redemption. As these marvels were brought about by the Angelic Salutation, so also do we repeat the same salutation to thank the Most Blessed Trinity for His immeasurable goodness to us."

"We praise God the Father because He so loved the world that He gave us His only Son as our Savior. We bless the Son because He deigned to leave Heaven and came down upon earth----because HE WAS MADE MAN and redeemed us. We glorify the Holy Spirit because He formed Our Lord's pure, Body in Our Lady's Womb----this Body which was the Victim of our sins. In this spirit of deep thankfulness should we, then, always say the Hail Mary, making acts of faith, hope, love and thanksgiving for the priceless gift of salvation."

"Although this new hymn is in praise of the Mother of God and is sung directly to her, nevertheless it greatly glorifies the Most Blessed Trinity because any homage that we pay Our Lady returns inevitably to God Who is the cause of all her virtues and perfections. When we honor Our Lady: God the Father is glorified because we are honoring the most perfect of His creatures; God the Son is glorified because we are praising His most pure Mother, and God the Holy Spirit is glorified because we are lost in admiration at the graces with which He has filled His Spouse."

"When we praise and bless Our Lady by saying the Angelic Salutation she always passes on these praises to Almighty God in the same way as she did when she was praised by Saint Elizabeth. The latter blessed her in her most elevated dignity as Mother of God and Our Lady immediately returned these praises to God by her beautiful Magnificat."

"Just as the Angelic Salutation gives glory to the Blessed Trinity, it is also the very highest praise that we can give Our Lady."

"One day when Saint Mechtilde was praying and was trying to think of some way in which she could express her love of the Blessed Mother better than she had done before, she fell into ecstasy. Our Lady appeared to her with the Angelic Salutation in flaming letters of gold upon her bosom and said to her: "My daughter, I want you to know that no one can please me more than by saying the salutation which the Most Adorable Trinity sent to me and by which He raised me to the dignity of Mother of God."

"By the word Ave (which is the name Eve, Eva), I learned that in His infinite power God had preserved me from all sin and its attendant misery which the first woman had been subject to."

"The name Mary which means 'lady of light' shows that God has filled me with wisdom and light, like a shining star, to light up Heaven and earth."

"The words full of grace remind me that the Holy Spirit has showered so many graces upon me that I am able to give these graces in abundance to those who ask for them through me as Mediatrix."

"When people say The Lord is with thee they renew the indescribable joy that was mine when the Eternal Word became incarnate in my womb."

"When you say to me blessed art thou among women I praise Almighty God's Divine mercy which lifted me to this exalted plane of happiness."

"And at the words blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus, the whole of Heaven rejoices with me to see my Son Jesus Christ adored and glorified for having saved mankind."

"BLESSED ALAN DE LA ROCHE who was so deeply devoted to the Blessed Virgin had many revelations from her and we know that he confirmed the truth of these revelations by a solemn oath. Three of them stand out with special emphasis: the first, that if people fail to say the Hail Mary (the Angelic Salutation which has saved the world) out of carelessness, or because they are lukewarm, or because they hate it, this is a sign that they will probably and indeed shortly be condemned to eternal punishment."
"The second truth is that those who love this Divine salutation bear the very special stamp of predestination."

"The heretics, all of whom are children of the devil and clearly bear the sign of God's reprobation, have a horror of the Hail Mary. They still say the Our Father but never the Hail Mary; they would rather wear a poisonous snake around their necks than wear a scapular or carry a rosary."

"Even if I did not believe that which has been revealed to Blessed Alan de la Roche, even then my own experience would be enough to convince me of this terrible but consoling truth. I do not know, nor do I see clearly, how it can be that a devotion which seems to be so small can be the infallible sign of eternal salvation and how its absence can be the sign of God's eternal displeasure; nevertheless, nothing could possibly be more true. [Emphasis added.]"

How beautiful and powerful is the Hail Mary! Let us then cling to this holy prayer and dedicate our lives to the service of god through His Mother. God bless you all!

Devotions to Our Lord - Stations of the Cross

A very meritorious way to grow in holiness is meditating on the Passion of Christ. "He who desires", says St. Bonaventure, "to go on advancing from virtue to virtue, from grace to grace, should meditate continually on the Passion of Jesus." And he adds that "there is no practice more profitable for the entire sanctification of the soul than the frequent meditation of the sufferings of Jesus Christ." St. Augustine says also. that one tear shed over the Passion of Jesus is worth more than a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, or a year of fasting on bread and water. And to help us meditate upon the Passion of Our Lord, He gave us the Stations of the Cross.

The Vatican website speaks of it's history, "The Way of the Cross, as we understand the term today, dates to the late Middle Ages. Saint Bernard of Clairvaux (+ 1153), Saint Francis of Assisi (+ 1226) and Saint Bonaventure of Bagnoregio (+ 1274), with their loving, contemplative devotion, prepared the ground on which the devout practice was to develop."

"To a spirit of compassionate devotion for the mystery of the Passion we must add the enthusiasm aroused by the Crusades launched to regain possession of the Holy Sepulchre, a new flourishing of pilgrimages from the twelfth century onwards, and, from 1233, the stable presence of the Franciscan Friars minor in the Holy Places."

"Towards the end of the thirteenth century we find mention of the Stations of the Cross, not yet as a pious practice, but as the path which Jesus walked on his way up to Mount Calvary marked by a series of « stations »."

"Around 1294 the Dominican friar Rinaldo de Monte Crucis, in his Liber peregrinationis, tells how he went up to the Holy Sepulchre «per viam, per quam ascendit Christus, baiulans sibi crucem », describing the different stations: Herod's Palace, the Lithostratos, where Jesus was condemned to death, the place where Jesus met the women of Jerusalem, the place where Simon of Cyrene shouldered the Lord's cross, and so forth."

The Way of the Cross places us right into the Passion, gives us consolations when we compare it to our own sufferings, and best of all, consoles Our Lord! He has told us many times that  even just thinking of Him during His Passion gives Him consolation! How many times have we desired to be comforted when it seems like the world has abandoned us, how many time do we wish someone was there when all visible light has been extinguished, and how much Our Lord must want us to show Him that we love Him during His Passion! His friends were asleep, guards severely beat and mocked Him with no one around to defend Him, He was the "Man of Sorrows!" And by this prayer you can go back in time and comfort Jesus. You can console Him and mend His wounds. Let us then say it:

Not only is it very meritorious to us and comforting to Our Lord, by there are fourteen great promises attached:

1. I will grant everything that is asked of Me with faith when making the Way of the Cross.

2. I promise eternal life to those who from time to time pray the Way of the Cross.

3. I will follow them everywhere in life, and I will help them especially at the hour of death.

4. Even if they have more sins than blades of grass in the fields and grains of sand in the sea, all of these sins

will be erased by the Way of the Cross. (This promise does not eliminate the obligation to confess all mortal sins, and this before receiving Holy Communion.)

5. Those who pray the Way of the Cross often will have a special glory in Heaven.

6. I will deliver them from Purgatory – indeed, if they go there at all – the first Tuesday or Friday after their death.

7. I will bless them at each Way of the Cross, and My blessing will follow them everywhere on earth and, after death, in Heaven for all eternity.

8. At the hour of death. I will not permit the devil to tempt them; I will lift all power from him in order that they will repose tranquilly in My arms.

9. If they pray with true love, I will make each one of them a living ciborium in which it will please Me to pour My grace.

10. I will fix My eyes on those who pray the Way of the Cross often; My hands will always be open to protect them.

11. As I am nailed to the Cross, so also will I always be with those who honour Me in making the Way of the Cross frequently.

12. They will never be able to separate themselves from Me, for I will give them the grace never again to commit a mortal sin.

13. At the hour of death I will console them with My presence, and we will go together to Heaven. Death will be sweet to all those who have honoured Me during their lives by praying the Way of the Cross.

14. My soul will be a protective shield for them, and will always help them whenever they have recourse to it.

How kind and generous Jesus Christ truly is! May God pour forth His blessings upon you through this holy prayer, and may His blessed Mother watch over you!
