It's NOT Ok

Sister Cristina on "The Voice" singing “No One” by Alicia Keys and a few other songs has been going around the internet. I wanted to say a few words about it because so many people (including Catholics) think it’s great. But I’m here to tell you it’s NOT ok.

Some people might say that I’m being too harsh. Why not like a joyful nun? I am not against joy and enthusiasm, rather I think it is absolutely essential for all Catholics. But this isn’t about that, it’s about scandal. The supernatural has been routed out of the Catholic Church ruthlessly, and this nun shows us that being a religious sister dedicated to God doesn’t mean much. She displays to the audience that it doesn’t matter if you’re a religious, you can still sing pop songs and dance improperly. She says it’s completely fine to be on a TV show that often shows people wearing immodest clothes and uses indecent language. This is a scandal, not a breakthrough for the Catholic Church.

I remember hearing one of the lyrics she sung, and it really summed up everything for me. She sang “Girls Just Want to have Fun,” “Oh father dear you know your still number one, but girls just want to have fun.”But you can’t pick our Heavenly Father and the earth’s improper amusements! Our Lord told us that His followers would be hated by the world like He was. You can’t be in both camps. It’s either God or the world. A professed religious dies to the world and gives her life for God and the Church. Is Sister Cristina doing this?

In fact, in one of her latest performances, she is singing “What a Feeling” from a very bad movie, with dancing “monks” around her. This is good? This is a mockery! This is a slap in God’s face and a terrible sin.

This is just another proof that the Church is in a deadly crisis. Our Lord’s bride now indecently dances on stages with immodest women and people cheer her on. There is nothing sacred anymore, the world is successfully routing it out. People now consider the Church a joke, nothing but another religion that can be put aside. We cannot support this indifference. God help her poor soul.
